The rear light replacement is done from the trunk, without removing the bumper and without modifying the electrical installation.

Tools needed

• 10 mm socket wrench
• Plastic tool for removing the trunk trim panels
• Optional: gloves to avoid marking the lenses

Detailed steps

1. Turn off the car and the lights before starting
2. Open the trunk and remove the trim covers behind each fender piece and inside the trunk lid
3. Disconnect the connector from the original light
4. Loosen the mounting nuts and carefully remove the light
5. Place the new LED light and connect it to the original connector
6. Tighten the nuts with a light torque
7. Test all functions: position, brake, turn signals, and reverse
8. Repeat on the other side and replace the trim panels

Are they original BMW lights?

No. They are aftermarket rear lights with a GTS-style design, made for the 3 Series F30 and M3 F80.

Are they only the taillights or also the headlights?

They are only the taillights. Each side has two pieces: one on the fender and one on the trunk lid, and the set includes both sides.

Do they fit my 3 Series Touring F31?

No. The Touring has a completely different tailgate and rear lights.

Do I have to cut wires?

No. They are plug & play and connect to the car's original connectors, without modifying the electrical installation.

Do these LED taillights pass the ITV?

They have E-MARK / ECE approval. We recommend keeping the invoice and packaging in case they ask for them.

Do they look red when braking even though they are smoked?

Yes. The smoked lens only darkens the light when it is off; when on, the position and brake lights are seen in intense red.
